Our Mission
Housing Smart Saugerties Communities Task Force is a group of community members who advocate for affordable housing, policies and programs. We are part of Ulster County’s Housing Smart Communities Initiative Program. We are specifically
focused on preventing further displacement, and preserving and developing housing for the workforce and those on fixed incomes.
The Problem
- Affordability is a problem at many income levels in Saugerties.
- Many renters and owners are cost burdened or severely cost burdened.
- Households are considered cost burdened when they spend more than 30% of their income on rent, mortgage and other housing needs.
- Severely cost burdened households spend more than 50% of their income on these expenses.
